Our History

Our History

Refined Utility.
Functional Aesthetics.

Since 2013, we’ve learned more from the products that didn’t stay than from the ones that did. Every lesson became a better case. Thirteen years later, our catalog is what the market kept.

2013 — The Beginning

A Workshop. A Goal. A Tuition.

CaseMe was founded in 2013 with one goal: design leather cases that genuinely serve the user. The early years were a tuition period — we made mistakes in pattern, function, and supply chain, and those mistakes taught us more than our successes ever did.

2013 – 2015 — The First Lesson

Users Don’t Want Just Another Case.

In our first three years, we built seven generations of leather cases. None of them became long-term keepers — and that turned out to be the single most important finding of our early years.

What we learned: the market didn’t want “another well-made leather case.” They wanted something no one else was offering.

What we did with it: that conviction became the brief for our next project — the 008. Every product in our catalog today traces back to this pivot.

THE INSIGHT
Generic leather cases don’t earn a place in people’s daily lives.

THE PIVOT
Stop making what everyone makes. Build what no one else can.

2016 — First Breakout

No. 008 — The First Real Breakout

The 008 was CaseMe’s first defining product. At a time when no one else in the market offered it, we built a wallet case that rewrote what functionality meant. It hit every major region — and is still selling, nearly a decade later.

Zipper
Dedicated compartment for coins or cash
Card Slots
Over a dozen built-in card slots
RFID
Built-in blocking — safe at every checkout
2-in-1
Detachable — phone and wallet separate on demand

2017 — The Lesson of 2017

Simplicity Beats Novelty.

After the 008’s success, we spent 2017 testing whether we could push the design further — bolder clasps, heavier structures, more features layered on top. Several models explored that direction. None of them found the 008’s market.

What we learned: the 008 worked because it was clean, not because it was complicated. Adding more didn’t make it better.

What we did with it: we stopped trying to out-complicate the 008. We went back to first principles — and the next year, that restraint became the 013.

THE INSIGHT
More features don’t make a better case. Restraint does.

THE NEXT MOVE
Return to the minimalist silhouette — build the 013.

2018 — Second Breakout

The 013: Returning to Simplicity

The 013 was CaseMe’s second breakout. Instead of piling more onto the 008, we went back further — to the minimalist silhouette — and corrected what hadn’t been gotten right: upgraded vintage-touch leather, stronger magnetic closure, and more competitive pricing.

The 013 validated the product philosophy CaseMe has stuck with ever since: better material, better function, better price. It became a workhorse that sold for years.

2019 – 2020 — Strategy Crystallizes

The 023 and Three Archetypes

The 023 is a side-clasp, pearl-finish variant of the 013 — giving users another material and aesthetic option. During this period, our product strategy crystallized: the leather case category really has only three structural archetypes.

Complex
Multi-function — 008 family
Simple
Minimalist — 013 family
Shell-Based
Card holder — not yet built

2020 — Third Archetype

C22: Filling the Third Gap

Inspired by the American-market preference for bottom-shell-plus-card-pocket designs, C22 became CaseMe’s first shell-based wallet case — completing our coverage across all three structural archetypes and giving the brand a full product matrix for the first time.

2020 – 2021 — Democratizing 008

The C30: 008 Functionality, Lower Tier

The 008 had one obvious problem: it was expensive, largely because of its 2-in-1 detachable architecture. The C30 kept every functional ingredient — zipper, card slots, leather craftsmanship — but rebuilt the architecture as a non-detachable, segmented design. The result: 008-grade functionality at a much more accessible price tier.

2021 – 2022 — Case to Bag

The C36: From Case to Bag

By 2021, we were hearing a new user request: a shoulder-strap carry option. The C36 answered that — built on the C30 structure with an added outer flap layer and a shoulder strap, the first CaseMe product to cross the line between “phone case” and “phone bag.” That crossover would prove significant two years later.

2023 — Beyond Cases

The ME Series: Expanding Beyond Phone Cases

In 2023, CaseMe formally extended beyond phone cases into general bag products, launching the ME series of multi-purpose bags. The series continues to evolve — expanding CaseMe from “leather case brand” to “functional leather goods brand.”

2024 – 2025 — 013’s Successor

The 033: Solving the 013’s One Weakness

The 013 sold for years, but one piece of feedback kept coming back: the suede-touch leather showed fingerprints and held moisture. The 033 is the direct successor: pebble-grain leather, true microfiber interior, embossed CaseMe branding. Same silhouette, better experience. The 033 is the 013 for the next decade.

2025 — MagSafe Era

C49 & C39: Entering the MagSafe Era

By 2024–2025, MagSafe had become a default expectation in North American and European markets. The C49 — a MagSafe 2-in-1 built on the 033 base — is the first CaseMe product to merge the 013→033 design lineage with full MagSafe functionality. The C39 is a vintage-leather variant of the C36, giving C36 customers more material options.

2026 — MagSafe Complete

M80: MagSafe Reaches the Shell Line

Released in 2026, the M80 is the MagSafe 2-in-1 evolution of the C22 — bringing the shell-plus-card-holder archetype into the MagSafe era. With M80, CaseMe completes the MagSafe transition across all three of its structural archetypes.

C32 & 053: What Comes Next

Two products define CaseMe’s next step: C32 — the MagSafe 2-in-1 evolution of the C30, and 053 — a MagSafe upgrade of the 033. Both are the natural next iteration of products that already earned their place in the lineup.

13 Years of Learning

What the Market Taught Us

Every Product Earns Its Place
Some sold for nearly a decade; others made way for their own successors. Each generation taught us something the next one applied — and that compounding is how we built what we have today.

The Market Is the Final Judge
Every product in CaseMe’s current catalog earned its place through sales — some for nearly a decade. We don’t decide what works. The market does.

Iteration Beats Invention
CaseMe’s most recognized products are rarely the boldest ideas. They’re the disciplined upgrades — better material, smarter structure, sharper pricing.

We’re Still Here.

And that is the answer to thirteen years of asking. Explore the products the market kept.
